Dear Members, Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent vote regarding the proposed amalgamation of the Ancaster Minor Hockey League (AMHL) and Glanbrook Minor Hockey Association (GMHA) house league programs.
As communicated in advance, the proposal required two conditions to be met:

At least 50% + 1 of eligible member families casting a vote, and
-
At least 66.6% of those votes in favour of amalgamation.
While a majority of participating voters in both associations supported the initiative, the required participation threshold and the required approval threshold were not met. As a result, the amalgamation will not proceed at this time.
The Boards of AMHL, GMHA, and the Glancaster Bombers entered this process with a shared belief that a unified recreational program would help address long-term pressures facing local hockey including declining registrations, increasing costs, volunteer demands, and limitations in development pathways. Although the vote did not achieve the necessary criteria, we fully respect the outcome and the voice of our membership.
We are grateful to the many volunteers, staff, and community members who dedicated time and thoughtful effort throughout this process. We also thank all members who took the time to vote and provide feedback.
Each Board will continue business as usual while also evaluating the evolving landscape of minor hockey to ensure we remain responsive to the needs of our players, families, and community. We remain committed to keeping our members informed as we continue working to provide the strongest and most enjoyable recreational hockey experience possible.
