In True Bombers fashion, the U15B team shows their caliber again... this time bringing home the Gold Medal in Ancaster, ON.
The U15B squad has shown some true talent so far this year, leading the Niagara District with multiple strong showings. This Bombers Tournament performance showed more of the same; dominating the opposition with 5 straight wins, and only allowing 4 goals total across all 5 games.
Friday proved to be successful on all fronts. Game 1 was a re-match from our first tournament vs the Brant Battalion. Glancaster rolled past the opposition with a decisive 6-2 win. Game 2 provided an unknown opposition in the West Coast Whitecaps, a team that is leading their own league. The teams skated well with each other through the first period, but the 2nd and 3rd were all Glancaster...as we skated to a 7-0 win, positioning ourselves well in round robin play.
Saturday was more of the same, as the Bombers played what was likely their toughest battle of the tournament, against the Norfolk Knights... another team new to the Bombers. Our U15b kids worked hard, and continued to work against some strong goaltending to net a 4-0 win and clinch first place in the tournament. Game four pitted the Bombers winning 3-0 against a local Niagara District team from Port Colbourne, earning them a bye straight to the finals.
Game 5, the Championship game, had the Bombers facing Brant one final time. Playing two men short, the Bombers were able to capitalize through hard work and team play, emphasising the key points for this team... skating and passing win games, grit wins gold. With another 6-2 win, the Bombers take home tournament gold, and look forward to continuing their success as the year rolls on.
